The Empathy Tour

Sore muscles and blistering feet is just the beginning of being a professional ballerina. While some might say, ballet is not a sport Tor Constantino begs to differ Ballet is a sport/ A sport is a physical exertion and skill. Ballet is a physical exertion and skill making it a sport. Professional ballerinas spend countless hours starting at an early age training to become the best ballerina they can. It starts with 30 minute classes at age three and progresses from there by the time these women and men are professional they are dancing 40 plus hours a week. This form of ballet is more than just a sport, it is an art.
The pressure that is put on ballet dancer is far too extreme. From an early age these girls and boys are pressured to look a certain way. They are told what to eat and when to eat if their true goal is to become a professional. They are pouring their whole life into a profession that will pick apart their body and appearance at every available opportunity. So why are these kids still wanting to become professional ballerinas? Misty Copeland is a great inspiration for ballerinas around the world. She does not let the typical ballet body stop her from doing what she loves, performing. Misty Copeland
